Hi everyone, Ive recently become aware that I have entered the menopause. I had a hysterectomy nearly 7 years ago and was told I would probably go into an early one. So having "escaped" nearly 7 years, I suppose thats a bonus!! I havent had it confirmed by the GP but the constant flushes, followed by shivers and "crawling skin" makes me almost certain that it is. My question to you all is - with all the drugs that we take for arthur, is there anythig else that we can take that isnt detrimental to the dmards etc to stop these flushes? I have heard that blak cohosh is very good, but can we take it alongside our usual medication? Im also suffering awful headaches at the weekend (inject mx on Thursday evening) but have also recently (Oct) started taking leflunomide which has made such a difference. Not sure if its the mx causing the headaches or the combination of the two?

Hope you are all well and have a lovely Christmas and New Year!

Love Heather xxxxx

I am sorry you are suffering. Have you talked to your GP about HRT? I believe the scares about HRT a few years ago were totally unfounded and that GP's are now back describing it. I am not sure if you can take with the RA medication but it may be worth asking. It will also protect you from osteoarthritis.

I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago but they left my ovaries intact. It is my 50th year next year so I too am expecting something to happen. I was also told I would go through the menopause early but I am still waiting.

I did take Leflumonide but had terrible headaches with it and had to stop. Again you should speak to your GP or rhuemy team.

Have a good Christmas but more importantly a healthier New Year.

Jackie

hi, i am mtx and switched from pills to inj now alot better but still get the drone headaches, i am 55 and been at menopause since 2008,sounds like you are in the zone,i didnt take and wont take hrt due to my sister did and suffered terriible when they took her off it 15yr later but it is a choice each of us make,i chose to go the healthy eating/weight loss way and really tried to beat it,i did take evening primrose oil and flaxseed oil is just as good but you need to decide for yourself, the sweats still get me but the worst was memory loss, thankfully it is coming back but it does catch me out in mid conversation (so funny),as jackie says talk to your gp or well woman clinic they have some great pamphlets to read on it, all the best, not really fun getting older i liked it when i was 16 and in the dark about lifeLOL ,dorothy
